Jolene Frechette

ARTIST STATEMENT

“I am primarily a fiber artist. My work uses hand-embroidery, applique, and found fabric collage while mining the detritus and ephemera of pop/trash culture to create imagery that places Indigenous narratives in the vibrant forward moving present and freed from a sepia-tinted past. I am an enrolled member of the Menominee Tribe. An Urban Native, I grew up in Madison and I still live here.”
