ARTIST STATEMENT
“This work is part of a series of pieces that I made exploring symbiotic relationships using furniture as a starting point. Each of the cabinets depend on the other for balance, but only one is level at a time. The umbrella form on the top of each is operated by opening the door on the opposite cabinet, so that the function of using one of the cabinets (opening its door) also activates an attempted protection of its counterpart. Pair of Cabinets began as a sketch of a symbiotic relationship, but became a portrait of a much more human one.”
